About This Work

The ‘Snow on Schiehallion, composed and arranged by Graeme Abernethy, is a original Slow Air for Pipes and Military Band. Commissioned by the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo as the main finale piece for the 2006 Tattoo. It takes its name from the mountain of Schiehallion in upper Perthshire, which has a unique conical shape. Dominating the surrounding countryside it is particularly spectacular in winter when the peak is snow capped - hence the name. Using tune in both Ab and Bb this is an innovative and composition that is suitable for the concert platform and outdoor performance. A valuable addition to the Pipe & Concert Band repertoire.
