ABOUT THIS WORK

Gounod's opera "Faust" is based on the famous story by the German poet Goethe in which Faust sells his soul to the devil in exchange for help in attaining his desires. The "Bacchanale and Entry of Phryne" is the Finale to the Ballet Music and was introduced into the opera for the Paris Grand Opera in 1868. Geoff Kingston presents this exciting arrangement of the stormy seventh ballet sequence from the famous opera. Two bouncy Allegro Vivo sections frame a contrasting dolce featuring the woodwind section. Crisp articulations and exciting dynamic changes make this an excellent addition to your concert band repertoire.
