Scene from Swan Lake - Tchaikovsky

Wednesday, 16 July 2014

Tchaikovsky wrote some of the most memorable and often performed ballet music, one of the more popular being ‘Swan Lake' which had its first performance on 4 March 1877 at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. The ‘Scene', in which a group of swans, soon to change into beautiful young women, glide across the lake, is the first movement of the suit of the ballet. Freely arranged for Concert Band by Geoff Kingston the opening ‘Scene' introduces the much loved and beautifully haunting ‘Swan Theme'. This simple arrangement is suitable for bands of all grades and an ideal ‘concert filler'.
