Military Polonaise - Chopin

Saturday, 27 February 2016

Most of Frédéric Chopin's polonaises were written for Solo Piano of which one of the most popular is his "Military Polonaise" - (Op.40, No.1). Arranged by Geoff Kingston, this majestic piece is ideally suited for the Concert Band. Vibrant and full of chordal energy this grandiose work challenges every section of the band. Instantly recognizable this makes a great concert opener or semi-finale.

The word Polonaise is derived from the French word for Poland, Chopin's home country, and this piece evokes his pride in his Polish heritage.
