‘La Chasse' - ‘The Hunt'  The ballet ‘Giselle', composed by Adolphe Adam, was hugely popular being performed across Europe, Russia and the United States of America. The ghost-filled ballet tells the tragic, romantic story, of a beautiful young peasant girl who falls for the flirtations of the deceitful and disguised nobleman Albrecht. When the ruse is revealed, the fragile Giselle dies of heartbreak and Albrecht must face the consequences of his careless seduction.

‘La Chasse' - ‘The Hunt' - is performed in the First Act and opens to the sounds of Hunting Horns and dynamic Brass fanfares. These are followed by a variety of tuneful dances before returning to the the closing fanfares. Freely arranged for Band by Geoff Kingston this is an ideal concert work, and one that brings the sounds of the ballet to the concert platform. This score does offer an alternative ending
