ABOUT THIS WORK

The Lake of Menteith, is famous as being Scotland's only lake, rather than loch. Until the 19th century the small lake was called Loch of Mentieth.
The lake has several small islands with the largest being Inchmahome. This is home to an ancient priory which was established in 1238 by Augustinian canons. The impressive remains of the priory still stand today, and they were once visited by some of Scotland's most famous historic figures which include Robert the Bruce and acted as a refuge for Mary Queen of Scots.

Composed and Arranged by Ian Macpherson, "The Lake of Menteith", is full of atmosphere, energy and emotion, bringing together contemporary and traditional Elgarian sounds to great effect. A great addition to the repertoire.

22/10/2020 - Such a brilliant tune! I could certainly see this being used in a Tattoo! It would be an ideal starter for a Scottish Act sequence with Military Bands halfway through a show. This is a wonderful melody and I will certainly consider using this in the future! - Comment by Chris Nelson
