‘Scipio', composed by George Frideric Handel, is taken from his 1725 opera ‘The Mercy of Scipio' and based on the life of the Roman General Scipio Africanus. A year after the premiere of the opera, Handel presented the march Scipio to the Band of the Grenadier Guards which he held in high esteem. Today, it remains as their regimental slow march.

By request, SafeMusic has published this version for Concert Band, edited by Geoff Kingston.
