Martin Bunce studied Trumpet under Horace Barker and Howard Snell at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, achieving his Associateship Diploma in the mid 1970s. He first achieved fame as a soloist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra appearing as a featured artiste on the BBC 2 programme ‘In Concert’.

As a freelance trumpet player, he has performed and recorded with many UK orchestras and artistes, most notably the London Symphony Orchestra, Led Zeppelin, Petula Clark, The Drifters and Monty Python. He is currently employed as a peripatetic music tutor for three London Boroughs and has recently been appointed Head of Brass at the Royal Russell School Croydon. In addition, he is musical director and conductor of the Merton Concert Band and various theatre companies.

Martin is also a skilled arranger & composer; his most popular composition ‘Marianne’ appears on ‘The Very Best of NYJO’ a 4 CD boxed set (PBX CD 458). His Trumpet playing can be heard on ‘The London Trumpet Sound’ a new CD release from Cala Records (Vol’s 1 & 2 CACD0113/4).
