About This Work

"Hallelujah", written by Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, is now available in a new spectacular arrangement for concert band by Ian Macpherson, inspired by Alexandra Burke’s 2008 record-breaking chart success.

"Hallelujah” was originally released on Leonard Cohen’s 1984 studio album ‘Various Positions’ with a significantly changed version being released on the 1994. Unfortunately, neither version achieved wide success outside of Cohen's fans until cover versions by Jeff Buckley and Alexandra Burke saw it occupy the top two spots of the pop charts in December 2008 with the Buckley version being one of the fastest selling songs in pop history.

This is another great arrangement by Ian of songs featured in our series of ‘Pop Classics for Our Time’ and one that will keep your repertoire bang up to date!
