About This Work

"Little Concerto on a Theme by Henry Clay Work" is based upon the composers highly successful work ‘My Grandfather's Clock' which with ‘Marching through Georgia" became one of his most successful works; selling more than a million in sheet music sales.

Jeffrey Thorpe draws his inspiration from the Baroque era in this arrangement for Solo Flute, Bb Clarinet, Bb Trumpet, Euphonium and Concert Band. Commissioned by the Kilroy S.H.S. Concert Band and later rescored for the Picton High School Concert Band, the ‘Concerto' has been performed many times in concerts and competitions. Suitable for bands with a wide range of abilities the score allows the conductor to vary the solo group line-up. With the use of a featured quartet, this arrangement elegantly ticks along.
